In the past, Forge was a place where a community extension could host its issues, news, internal documents, and a wiki. It was also a place for project planning, like tracking progress and spent time.

Using alternative platforms to host community extensions, like GitLab, GitHub, and Bitbucket, has been encouraged for several years now. Not surprisingly, analytics show that use of forge for community extensions has been very low for some time. There is outdated information on mostly abandoned or inactive extensions.

The data clean-up means we’ll use less space on the Forge server, improve the speed of the application and there’ll be a better user experience on Forge, with improved search results.

You can access up-to-date extensions in the TYPO3 Extension Repository (TER) and at Packagist. The source code of old community extensions is available at GitHub.

What Do I Need To Do?

General Users

For anyone who relies on community extension information on Forge, scan through the content and take a copy of anything you might need.

Extension Owners

If you are an extension owner and have extension content hosted at forge.typo3.org, please ensure you have a back-up copy before the shutdown date of 1 November, 2021.
